Carolyn Blalock Pittman

Carolyn Blalock Pittman, of Grapevine, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019 in Grapevine, Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and a generous, kind friend to all that knew and loved her. She was born on November 29, 1944 in Centerville, Mississippi to Clarence and Inez Blalock. Carolyn grew up in Mississippi. She met and married the love of her life, Sidney Pittman, in Mobile, Alabama on October 7, 1964. After completing her education at the University of Southern Mississippi, she began her career in elementary education. With the birth of their daughter, Patrice, the family settled in Deland, Florida for 30+ years. Carolyn continued her career as a teacher and retired from Volusia County Schools in 2006. Upon retirement, Carolyn relocated to Texas to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Earl Pittman. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Patrice Moon of Grapevine, Texas, her granddaughter, Caroline Moon of Grapevine, Texas, her grandson, Preston Moon of Grapevine, Texas, her son-in-law, Wade Moon of Grapevine, Texas, and one brother, Clarence Blalock Jr. of Centerville, Mississippi. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport, MS on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 11:00 am. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
