Francis James Newby

Mr. Francis James Newby, Sr., age 91, of Biloxi, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016. Mr. Newby was a native of Algiers, LA. He was a resident of Pascagoula since 1963 and of Biloxi for 3 years. He was a former member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula and was retired from Chevron Refinery as a Maintenance Foreman. He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Joy Treadaway Newby; and parents, Arthur and Catherine Crowley Newby. Survivors include his daughters, Patricia (Larry) Hennessey and Joy (David) Hawkins; son, Frank J. (Shirley) Newby, Jr; brothers, James Newby and Joseph (Anne) Newby; grandchildren, Katie (Josh) Murphy and Michael (Keion) Hennessey; and great granddaughters, Layla Hennessey and Frances Katherine Murphy. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or to Catholic Charities USA, P.O. Box 17066, Baltimore, MD, 21297. Services will be held at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016. Family and friends are invited from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
