Louis “Buddy” Rogers, 76, of Long Beach died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in Long
Beach. He was born in Gulfport and was a lifelong resident of the Coast. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Mr. Rogers was a retired Civil Service employee at Keesler Air Force Base and following retirement worked with his son, Seth at Seth’s Lawn Mower in Long Beach.
He was inducted into the Mississippi Street Rod Hall of Fame in 2010 and was an avid enthusiast of street rods, hot rods, and Crusing the Coast. The family requests that his friends drive their hot rods in the procession from the church to the cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and June Showers Rogers.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Dauro Rogers of Long Beach; a daughter, Melissa (Randy) Fischer; a son, Seth Rogers, and a sister, Norma (Ray) Napier all of Long Beach; two grandchildren, Faren (Dustin) Knowles and Tara Fischer; and two great-grandchildren, Addison Knowles and Henley Knowles.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 7, 2012 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach
where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
