Mark S. Blackmon, 68, of D’Iberville, MS passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 in Ocean Springs with his daughter by his side.
Mr. Blackmon was born in Biloxi, MS on December 13, 1953 to Frank Blackmon and Mary Antionette Wiltz Blackmon. He graduated from D’Iberville High School and attended Jefferson Davis Community College and Mississippi State University. He retired from Keesler AFB Civil Service. Mr. Blackmon was a part time security officer for Swetman Security.
A man of strong Catholic faith, he and the love of his life, Francie served his parish as a Eucharistic Minister, CYO Advisor and many other duties. Mr. Blackmon was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D’Iberville, the Biloxi Knights of Columbus, Council 1244 and the Ocean Springs Elks Lodge 2501. He served his community as member of the first D’Iberville Port Commission and other city programs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary Frances Lechner Blackmon; and his parents, Frank and Mary Wiltz Blackmon.
Mr. Blackmon’s survivors include his daughter, Kellie Blackmon; his brother, Arnold (Toni Rae) Blackmon; his brothers-in-law, Dedric LeBoeuf, Reggie (Cathy) Lechner and David Deaver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark’s love of family was a great part of his life. He enjoyed being with family and events and ready to help when and wherever needed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:00 am. A recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:30 am. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until Mass time. Interment will be at Biloxi City Cemetery.
