Mr. Robert J. "Woody" Beaugez, age 75, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at River Chase Nursing Home in Gautier. He was surrounded by his loving family and passed away shortly after being anointed and given his last rites by Father McInerney. The room was filled with joy, peace and sorrow as we all said good-bye.
Robert was born in Ocean Springs on June 12, 1938. He graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1958, where he was voted best athlete his Junior and Senior year – having lettered in all 4 sports. After graduation, he went to work at E.R. Moore Company for 21 years, Alpha Optical for 11 years and retired from Jackson County Road Department after 11 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Cora Beaugez, his sisters Doris Galle and Mary Terry, a granddaughter, Brittany Michelle Watts, all of Ocean Springs, MS. and a special and loving canine companion, Spankey Beaugez.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Olive D. Beaugez, his four daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Kevin Polk of Foley, AL., Connie and James Lewis of Grand Bay, AL., Wendy and Bobby Welch of Ocean Springs, MS., and Malinda Beaugez and Craig Story of Ocean Springs, MS.; 12 grand-children and 10 great-grand-children; his siblings, Raymond (Donnie) Beaugez, Janet (Chuck) Munger, Anne Beaugez, David (Denita) Beaugez, and a special nephew J.B. (Debbie) Galle; two sisters-in-law, Lyn Scarborough and Liz Walker, and his Ole’ Buddy, Mr. Tom Creekmore, all of Ocean Springs, MS. He is also survived by Wanda Beaugez.
A special thanks to Hospice of Light (Glenda Lininger and Shonda Matthews), River Chase Nursing Home, and staff in Gautier, MS., for taking such good care of our loved one.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 19, 2013, from 9 am to 11 am with an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial, all at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Bellande Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a donation in his name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1900 Dunbarton Dr., Suite H, Jackson, MS 39216.
