Adderene M. Dunn, age 89, of Long Beach, died Friday, October 29, 2011 in Gulfport. She was born November 18, 1921 in Winston County.
She worked at Westinghouse in Vicksburg for 25 years,
and was a member of FBC Biloxi. She taught preschoolers in Vicksburg
& Columbia for over 30 years and was a member of BPW in Columbia,
She was a member of Marion County Hospital Aux where she volunteered
and managed the Gift Shop for years, and was a Worthy Matron member
of Eastern Star for over 30 years and was currently serving as
Grand Chapter Mom for the State of Mississippi OES.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Dunn; and a son, Jimmy Calvin Dunn.
Mrs. Dunn is survived by a daughter, Judith Dunn Smith and her husband, James C. “Jim” Smith; a son, Morris Clay Dunn and his wife, Ivadell Perry Dunn; six grandchildren, Andrea Smith Morris, Jonathan Paul Dunn, Carol Smith Whittman, Charles Anthony Dunn, Marcie Dunn Silva, Michael James Dunn; and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday, October 31, 2011 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The funeral service is Tuesday November 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Burnside Baptist Church in
Philadelphia with interment in the church cemetery.
