Winona Latimer, 87, of Biloxi, MS died on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in Biloxi. She was born on May 23, 1920 in Biloxi, MS. She was a graduate of Biloxi High School and graduated from LSU in 1942 where she received her B.S. Degree in Home Economics. She was an instructor at Keesler AFB during WW II; a Home Economics teacher at Woolmarket and Biloxi High Schools. Ms Latimer was employed at Mississippi Power Company from 1949-1983. As a home economist at Mississippi Power Company, she had a "Cooking Show" on the local TV station (WLOX). She was the Mississippi Power Company's Energy Communications Supervisor. She was the Home Service Director for coordinating training and service activities of home economics personnel assigned to the company's division offices in Gulfport, Hattiesburg, Laurel and Meridian where she retired after 34 years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church Biloxi where she was a beloved Sunday School teacher who influenced many young girls' lives. She was very active in the planning and preparation of wedding receptions. She was an active member and former President of the Biloxi Business and Professional Women's Club. She was also a member of the American Home Economics Association and the Mississippi Home Economics and Business Group. Ms Latimer is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Holley Latimer and Adele Latil Latimer; nephew, Lewis W. Hood III; great-nephew, Wade Hood. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Latimer Hood and Ruth Ramsay Campbell; nieces, Mary Anne Hood Eubanks, Yvonne Hood Hardy; great-nieces and nephews: Mickey, Larry and Greg Eubanks; Jamie Hardy Joiner, Jim and Fabian Hardy and Sean Joiner; Diane Hood Morales, Lisa Hood Hubble, Emmy Hood Christian, Deborah, Greg, Holly Lynn Hood; great-great-nieces and nephews: Jonathan Eubanks, Angela and Austin Eubanks, Leanne, Haley and Evan Eubanks; Emma Morales Taylor, Corey and Bryan Morales, Marie Morales Bartle, Chris Schultz, Joseph, Jason and Phillip Hubble; Kristina and Greg Higuera; great-great-great-nieces and nephews: Deanna, Amelia, Miles, Emille, Cole, Jonathan, Sadie, Bryce, Nicholas, Ashlyn, Jeremy, Joshua and Emilee Kaylynn, Billy, Kathlynn and Holly. Services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit at 10:00 a.m. 1 hour prior to service time.
