Agnes Aunita "Nita" Brown Harbour

Nita Harbour, 87, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. A graveside service will be held Saturday May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery, Route 1, DeKalb, Mississippi. She will be buried beside her husband of fifty-three years, Alvin Norris Harbour, who died on January 20, 2000. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Ralph Alonzo Brown and Edward Clay Brown; and one sister, Dorothy Brown Gill. Nita Harbour was born on July 21, 1922 in Meridian, MS to the late Ed Washington Brown and Susie Katie Hyde Brown. She is survived by two sons, Alvin Norris Harbour, Jr. and his wife Lila Finch Harbour of Eufaula, Alabama, and Michael Stanley Harbour and his wife Ann Colowick of Olympia, Washington; two granddaughters, Beth Pongonis (Rob) and Lyndsay Steed (Clay); two grandsons, Patrick and Seth Colowick-Harbour; four great-grandsons, Jackson Steed, Alex Pongonis, Peyton Steed, and Andy Pongonis. She is also survived by three sisters, Ruth Brown Moore, Jean Brown Walston, and Carol Brown Leggett; and one brother, Vernon F. Brown and his wife Sadie; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mrs. Harbour, a life long Methodist, was a member of the Mississippi City United Methodist Church in Gulfport. The Harbour and Brown families would like to thank the staff and employees of Driftwood Nursing Center, 1500 Broad Avenue, for their friendship to and loving care for Mrs. Harbour for the past eight years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Mississippi City United Methodist Church, 219 Courthouse Road, Gulfport, Mississippi 39507.
