March 2, 1941 — November 13, 2023

Biloxi

Alfred “Al” James Dehon, Jr., age 82, of Biloxi, Mississippi passed away on November 13, 2023.  Al was born to Alfred J. Dehon, Sr.  and Marvell Rogers Dehon on March 2, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Al loved reminiscing and telling stories of his youth growing up on the mean streets of the Irish Channel neighborhood of New Orleans with his three sisters, Lovey, Debbie and Marsha (known to Al as his wingman).  Al graduated from Fortier High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served for 4 years.  After returning to New Orleans to start his family, Al worked as a longshoreman at the Port of Orleans and eventually in the pest control business.  Al was an avid runner for 10 years and once endured a run of 141 miles over a 36 hour time period.  For this incredible feat, he was featured in The New Orleans “Footprints” running magazine.  A “salty sailor” at heart, Al loved the water and sailing the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Pontchartrain on his sailboat “Serenity”.  Al was an artist in wood making, among other medias, creating treasures for the people he loved, as well as a published writer.  Al had a passion for music, dancing, crawfish and the New Orleans Saints.

Al will be missed by his family and his many friends.  Al is survived by his wife, Gloria Dehon, his son, Ken Dehon (Leta) and daughter Stacey Falgout (Timothy).  He is also survived by his sister Marsha (Randy); his four grandchildren, Ashleigh Schultz, Meghan Gaines Le (Tony), Regan Dehon and Zachary Dehon; his 6 great grandchildren, Tage, Kieren, Kenadie and Taya Romain and Roman and Miles Gaines, and his stepchildren, Kim Gex, Karee Broom (Brian), Kevin Higginbotham, Kyra Monk (Lance); and their children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kirk Dehon, his sisters, Lovey and Debbie, his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Blanca Dehon, and his stepson, Kyle Higginbotham.

The family will have a private service to celebrate the incredible life of Al Dehon.
