Alfred John Stasulis, 90, of Long Beach, MS, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2006. Mr. Stasulis was a native of Chicago Heights, IL and a former resident of Chicago. He relocated to Long Beach in 1993.
Mr. Stasulis was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the South Pacific. He cleared mine fields, removed roadblocks, and prepared the way for troop advance. Mr. Stasulis was wounded while performing his duty for which he received numerous metals and awards.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Fortunato and Suzanna (Waitkus) Stasulis; loving wife Josephine Stasulis; sisters Julia Bandza, Frances Parker, and Stephanie Kozlowski. Survivors include brother Walter (Falley) Stasulas of Chicago, IL; son Alfred W. Stasulis of Long Beach, MS; daughters Joan Cibiras of DeFuniak Springs, FL, and Christine Lyons of Lake in the Hills, IL; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2006, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach, MS. Interment will be in Saint Casimir Cemetery in Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alfred J. Stasulis’ name to the “Rebuild St. Thomas Fund”- 5557 Daugherty Road, Long Beach, MS 39560.
