Alfred Edison Rushing, age 92, of Ocean Springs, MS died peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
Al “Grady” Rushing was born on October 9, 1929 in Biloxi, MS. He was a Protestant. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Biloxi, MS and attended Draughon’s Business School in Jackson, MS. Al served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a 16-year member of the Mississippi National Guard, having attained the rank of Captain. He retired from Mississippi Public Employees Retirement System after 38 years in the housing field. He was a member of the D’Iberville/St. Martin Chamber of Commerce, Chapter Member and First President of St. Martin Lions Club and a lifetime member of Biloxi Elk’s B.P.O.E. No. 606.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Jeff” and Eva Basehore Rushing; sisters, Marion L. Williams and Elva A. Heard; and by his brother, Crawford J. Rushing.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Geraldine Fountain Rushing; daughter, Julie (Johnson Lee) Tullos; grandchild, Jonathan (Erin) Rushing Tullos; great grandson, Rushing “Rush” Cotter Tullos.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in his memory to be made to your favorite charity.
A dual funeral service will be held for Alfred and his wife, Geraldine F. Rushing at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 11 AM. Friends may visit from 10 AM to 11 AM. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
