Alice Simon Neal passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Biloxi.
Born on February 6, 1919, Alice lived a remarkably healthy life which lasted an amazing 105 years and 5 days. She is remembered as a lady of quiet dignity doing her best with very little recognition. Her name brings a smile to all who knew and loved her. She began working at age 12 and was always committed to working hard and lovingly serve her family and friends. From her Ritz Café on Division Street to her snow ball stand, she seemed to never stop.
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1936 and was a lifelong resident, a Biloxi Treasure.
Special thanks to the "Aunt Alice Team" who navigated her through the last chapters of her life:
Grandsons, Tony Yennie and Joseph Yoesel
Granddaughter, Pricilla Bassett and husband Cory
Niece, Kay Bankston and husband Alton
Niece, Mary Lynn Todaro Pierce
Niece, Charlotte Ann Thomas
Nephew, Mike Todaro
Brother-in-law, Dick Benton
Many other family and friends participated on the team. A warm thanks to Biloxi Mayor, FoFo Gilich who recognized her at age 100 and again at 105 with proclamations, and WLOX Bill Snyder who put together a precious feature story for broadcast.
To peek inside her heart, we would see-
-her favorite song Blue Bayou (Linda Rhonstadt)
-her favorite foods -Softshell Crabs, Crawfish, shishKBobs, fried fish and oysters--
-her favorite advice to young people - Put GOD first in all things - Birds of a feather flock together - Show me your company and I'll tell you who you are.
-her resolve that GOD had everyone's days numbered and her respectful but playful way she waved goodbye to the many, many, many family and friends who had left this parade of life.
Now with sad but full hearts and OH so many memories- we wave goodbye to sweet sweet Alice.
Thank YOU LORD for letting us have this treasure for 105 years and 5 days.
