Retired MSgt Allen Ray “Al” Money, age 84, of Saucier, MS passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 of a sepsis infection.
He was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 4, 1937 and attended Ft. Branch High School before joining the US Air Force. He was stationed at Tinker AFB, OK; Fairbanks, AK; Lavergne, TN; Lajes Field, Azores; Eglin AFB, FL; Lubbock, TX; Clark AFB, Philippines and Keesler AFB, MS. He served in Vietnam and received a Vietnam Service Medal and a Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal. After retiring from service in 1976, he attended technical college at MGCCC learning plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, etc. He also worked in maintenance at MGCCC, Perkinston Campus until he retired as superintendent of the maintenance department.
Al enjoyed traveling, riding his motorcycles, repairing everything and keeping busy in his barns. He enjoyed working with his hands and teaching others how to repair things. He was a great friend to many and never met a stranger. He was always helping others and never asked for anything in return.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Evelyn (Cress) Money; his wife of 65 years, Lee Ann (Nicholson) Money; and sons, Kenneth Ray Money and Baby Boy Money.
He is survived by his children, David A. (Angelia) Money, Daniel B. (Sherrie) Money, Sharon K. (Frank) Eldridge; his grandchildren, Steven (Lee) Money, Brian Money, Kelly (Sam) Ellis, Michael (Jackie) Money and Jeffery Money; his great-grandchildren, Josie Money, Michelle Money, Ryan Money, Jeffery Solomon and Samantha Eldridge; his siblings, Steve Money, Helen Schaefer and Carole de Correvont; his caregiver/Buddy, Ryan Martin; and his cats, Baby, Patches, Sandee and Roxie.
Visitation will be at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15452 O’Neal Road, Gulfport, MS 39503 on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at noon. A service will follow at 1:00pm in the chapel. Interment with military honors will be at the Biloxi VA National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
The family wishes to thank his caregiver/friend/honorary son, Ryan Martin of Wiggins, MS for his compassion, kindness, humor, encouragement, companionship and uplifting attitude during all of his ups and downs over these past 14 months. We also wish to thank Mark Gagnon, PT with KIH, for his encouragement and persistence, and also to St. Joseph Hospice nurse Nanda and aide Tess for their help.
