Althea Seals

Mrs. Althea Kiernan Seals, age 86, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Saturday, February 18, 2006, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Seals was born on May 31, 1919, in Ocean Springs, and was a lifelong resident of Ocean Springs. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, a member of the Ocean Springs Hospital Woman's Auxiliary, Secretary of the "55 Plus" bowling league and served at the "Lord is My Help" food kitchen. Mrs. Seals was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Seals, Sr., son Paul Eugene Seals, parents, George Augustus and Camilla Illing Kiernan, four brothers, three sisters, one grandson and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by her children, James W. Seals, Jr., and wife, Karen, Randall O. Seals and wife, Charlotte, Sierra Seals Merriman and husband, David, Bobby L. Seals and wife, Kerrie, and Rene Seals Gara and husband, Tommy, fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was known and loved by all her children she helped raise as "Momma Seals. She was a full time mom to both her own children and all of those kids she kept long before there was a "Day Care". From an early age, her red beans and rice or roast and gravy and a lot of love, gave a lot of kids a good start in life. Thus the name "Momma Seals" stuck to this day. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, from 6-8 PM, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Thursday, February 23, 2006, there will be a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St.Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, where friends may visit from 9-10 AM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs. Pallbearers will be Christopher Seals, David Merriman II, Scotty Seals, David Seals, Jerry Neff, and Johnny Kiernan.
