Mr. Alton Lynrex Hilton Jr., age 75, of St. Martin, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 7, 2012.
Alton served in the US Marine Corps and retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service. He returned to St. Martin where he was raised and opened a body shop and towing service from his father’s old Standard Oil service station. He also served with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department where he received a second retirement following his service. He had a passion for restoring and showing old vehicles and was known for his expertise in Ford Mustangs and older Chevy trucks.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alton L. Hilton, Sr.; mother, Brittie E. Hilton; brother, David Hilton; wife, Peggy S. Hilton; and son, Kevin R. Hilton.
Survivors include his sister, Alice Hill (Billy) of St. Martin, MS; brother, Russell Hilton (Raenell) of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Darla Baker (Tom Edgeman) of Sebring, FL; daughter, Vickie Smith of Deland, FL; son, Richard Hilton (Elizabeth) of Ash Flat, AR; son Ronald Hilton of Vancleave, MS; eight grandchildren; 15 great -grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.
On Friday, September 14, 2012, there will be a 1 pm chapel service at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
