Mr. Alton Sidney "Son" Wescovich, Sr., age 79, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, in Pascagoula, MS.
Mr. Wescovich was a lifelong resident of the coast and was a member of the Elks Lodge #606 in Biloxi, MS., He formerly owned Coastwide Security, served in the Coast Guard Reserve and worked for the Biloxi Police Department for five years. He played in the Dixie Ramblers and owned the "Big Al" and the "String Bandits" country music bands.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Gloria Cobb Wescovich, three daughters, Delores "Dee Dee" Lebatard, Ellsie "Bootsy" Wescovich and Francis "Tudy" Griffin, a son, Joey Wescovich, parents, John Wescovich and Louise Saujon Wescovich, sister, Ruth Wescovich, grandson, Michael Griffin, and granddaughter, Theresa Hanson.
Survivors include six daughters, Nyoka Jones and fiancee, Jeffrey Burton, of Biloxi, MS., Marilyn (Bill) Faulk of Kentucky, Freda (Jimmy) Matthews of North Carolina, Debra (David) Hanson of Biloxi, MS., Denise (Steve) Brewer of Gulfport, MS., Gloria Jean (Howard) Griffith of Biloxi, MS., five sons, Alton (Sharon) Wescovich, Jr., Vincent (Sandra) Wescovich, Darrell Wescovich, James (Jackie) Wescovich, all of Ocean Springs, MS., and Randall Wescovich of D'Iberville, MS., a sister, Helen Lorraine Murrell of Ocean Springs, MS., three brothers, Roland Wescovich of Ocean Springs, MS., Douglas Wescovich and Wallace "Red" Wescovich, both of Biloxi, MS., forty two grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren, and his constant companion for fifteen years, Fran M. Reneau of Ocean Springs.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 13, 2007, from 5-8 PM, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home.
On Saturday, April 14, 2007, there will be a 11 AM chapel service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
