Alva Savanis Pritchard, Jr.

Alva Savanis “Doony” Pritchard, Jr., age 85, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at his home in Gulfport.

He was born in Handsboro on March 17, 1937 to Alva Pritchard, Sr. and Jessie Mae Anderson.  After graduating high school, he was employed as a crane operator.  He received the “Loving Husband, Amazing Father and True Friend” Award.  He loved music and playing guitar and sharing fruit from his beloved satsuma and orange trees.

Doony was preceded in death by his parents and spouse, Helen Marie Martin; a daughter, Teresa Fay Westra; and siblings L.J. Pritchard, Thelma Gartman and Butch Pritchard.

He is survived by his children, Rhonda, Alva III, and Angela (Rob); grandchildren Ben, Pamela, Alva IV, Jennifer, Joey, Carol, Tommy, Ryan, Michael and Casey; several great grandchildren and one great, great grandson William; sister Bobbie Ann White; and Little Black Cat.

The family prefers memorials to the Wounded Warriors Project or to Shriners Hospital for Children.
