Mrs. A. Jean Brown, of Ocean Springs, died peacefully on February 16, 2008, at Sunplex Subacute Center, to finally join her beloved husband, Robert K. Brown, who predeceased her, now 26 years ago. Mrs. Brown was born September 21, 1922, in Plymouth, Michigan and married her high school sweetheart in 1943. She graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing in 1944. Upon her retirement from the Ocean Springs Hospital, she joined the Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers, served as President for 2 years, and gave over 4500 hours of Volunteer work. She was a member of the Ocean Springs Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star over 30 years, serving as Treasurer of the Adah Chapter for 8 years. She was known for her extensive traveling including visits to all 50 states, in addition to 35 foreign countries. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Brown, and by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willian C. Schoof. She is survived by her brother, William K. Schoof, of Fort Collins, Colorado; sister, Jacquelyn Selle, of Jupiter, Florida; one niece; three nephews; five grand nieces and nephews; and five great grand nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Adah Chapter # 49 of the Eastern Star, P.O. Box 831, Ocean Springs, MS. 39566. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 20. 2008, at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs, with visitation two hours prior (noon-2pm). Internment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
