Amelia Ibele Mandis

Mrs. Amelia Ibele Mandis, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, in Biloxi, MS, at the age of 87. Mrs. Mandis was proud to have served Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in its early forming days, and loved every single day she spent working at Biloxi Regional Medical Center. She was most loyal and devoted to her hospital family and friends. Miss Amelia was raised on Back Bay and was proud of her Biloxi heritage. She lived for family gatherings and never missed a crawfish festival in Beaux Bridge, LA. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Mandis; her parents, Joe and Theresa "Mama T" Trahan Ibele. Miss Amelia is survived by her son-in-law and daughter, Joe and Cathy Wetzel; her grandsons, Dr. Raun Wetzel and his wife, Victoria, of Jackson, MS, and Jonathan Wetzel of Biloxi; and her great grandson, Elias James Wetzel of Jackson. Miss Amelia has numerous nieces and nephews who hold a special place in her heart. She loved her family but lived for her grandsons. Her family would like to thank Dr. Regina Mills who was so much more than just a physician to Miss Amelia. In addition to Dr. Mills, the family would like to thank all her caregivers, but especially Brenda Reese and Ms. May at Biloxi Community Living Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 6, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima where friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
