Anita Schaffer, age 69, of Gulfport, MS passed from us on October 24, 2006 at her home. She was born in Hollywood, FL on October 8, 1937 and had been a Gulf Coast resident for the past 36 years.
A veteran of the armed services, Ms. Schaffer honorably discharged from the United States Air Force on May 11, 1993. She was called to active duty during the Desert Storm, Desert Shield conflict receiving honorable mention for service to her country. She earned a college degree from the College of Commerce in Honolulu, HI and went on to earned a 30 year retirement from the Veterans Administration Hospital System.
Ms. Schaffer was preceded in death by her parents, Alton Roosevelt and Selma Opal Brock Hamrick; her daughter, Kelly Lynn Schaffer; and her brothers, Dennis Hamrick and Loren Hamrick.
Ms. Schaffer is survived by her son, Charles and Leslie Schaffer and granddaughters, Karen and Julia Schaffer all of Ocean Springs; and four brothers, Jimmy Hamrick and his wife Jane of Denver, CO; Lester Hamrick and his wife Bobbie of Astor Park, FL; Charles Hamrick of Gulfport, MS; and Harold Hamrick and Rita of Bay St. Louis.
Ms. Anita Schaffer succumbed to her second battle with cancer. Family and friend will sorely miss her.
A Memorial Service in Ms. Schaffer's honor will be held Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 7:00pm at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, where friends may visit from 5:00 til 8:00pm.
