Anna Lucille Augustine Bard completed her life on July 13, 2014 at the young age of 93. Lucille was a native of Bogalusa, Louisiana, born to Frederick Edward and Alma Bahm Augustine on March 13, 1921. Lucille was a graduate of St. Scholastica Academy in Covington, Louisiana and Soule Business School in New Orleans. She was a long-time member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Bogalusa where she belonged to Study Club and taught religion as a catechist. After moving to Mississippi, she became a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Above all, she lived for and loved her family. And, they loved her. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She devoted her life to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard M. Bard, Jr.; son Randall Bard; parents Fred and Alma Augustine; siblings William Augustine, Alvin Augustine, Gladys Day, Kenneth Augustine, Harlan Augustine, Joseph Augustine, and Charles Augustine. She is survived by children Diana Lovelace, Richard Bard III, Freida Lampkin (and her husband Greg Lampkin), Robert Bard and Ralph Bard; sisters Breneda Birdsong and Mary Imelda Dolan; grand-children Shane Bard, Chad Bard, Shannon Stuart, and Amanda Hagan; great-grandchildren Deyana Bard, Ethan Bard, Thomas Seiver, Morgan Hagan, Evelyn Stuart , Ella Canon and Emma Canon; and many nieces and nephews.
Nothing made her happier than being with her children, grandchildren and great-children and she made sure they knew they were special and loved. She shared a very special bond with her sister, Breneda, who was her life-long best friend. Her spiritual direction came from the heavens through the Trinity. Her spiritual direction on earth came from Fr. Louie Lohan and the Church. She will be so dearly missed by many and will forever be remembered by all those whose lives she touched, even if only with her contagious smile. A special woman is now one of God’s finest angels.
The Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Lucille will be officiated by Father Louis Lohan on Thursday, July 17 at 2:00 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach where friends may visit beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at Gulf Pines Cemetery, Long Beach.
