Anna Donnarumma Seglio

Anna (nee Donnarumma) Seglio passed away peacefully on August 6 at age 94. She was born on Feb 4, 1922 to Atillio and Elsie of Union City, NJ, proud Italian immigrants devoted to giving their children a wonderful life in America. Despite growing up in the Depression, Anna’s early years were happy, spent with her siblings, cousins, and friends. Anna and her future husband, Martin Seglio, met as students at Emerson High School and were married September 25, 1948. They purchased a home in Weehawken, NJ where they raised their children for over 30 years. They enjoyed spending summers at the Jersey Shore, traveling to numerous locations across the US for Marty’s Army Reunions, and holiday gatherings with their large extended family. Anna was a working mom, spending the majority of her professional life as an office manager for Modern Thread, an embroidery business owned by her brother-in- law Joe (Muzzy) Cesaro in West New York, NJ. She was a quick learner and expanded her role to include all aspects of the business such as payroll, negotiating prices with suppliers, and ensuring operations ran smoothly. Anna’s most important role was that of mother to her daughter (Patricia Ann) and son (Thomas), and grandmother to Brianne, Michael, and Thomas II. She took a tremendous amount of pride in watching them grow and was happiest when spending time with them. In fact, after the loss of her husband in 2000, Anna resided in Shrewsbury, NJ with her daughter, and would often be found pushing Michael’s baby stroller to the train station so he could see the local trains. In 2012, Anna moved to Mississippi to be near her son Thomas and grandson Thomas II. Although she was blessed with good physical health, Anna’s mental health needed a bit more care and she eventually moved to Pass Oaks, Pass Christian, MS. She received the best of care and unconditional love from the entire staff, evidenced by her dancing, singing, and overall happy temperament. Anna is predeceased by her parents Atillio and Elsie, her husband Marty, and her sisters Eleanor, Millie, Betty, and Mary. Survivors include her brother John, many nieces and nephews, and their families, and by her daughter and son-in- law, Patty and Mike Paduano of Shrewsbury, NJ, her son, Dr. Thomas Seglio of Ocean Springs, MS, and her grandchildren, Dr. Brianne Donohue of New York City, Michael Paduano of Shrewsbury and Thomas II of Ocean Springs. The family is planning a memorial service for Anna in the fall, to be held in NJ. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you remember Anna as a kind and caring woman, with an open heart and mind. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
