Miss. Anna Jean Wilson, 52, of Ocean Springs, MS died Friday, January 28, 2005, in Pascagoula.
Miss. Wilson was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania March 25, 1952 and had been a longtime resident of the coast. She was a graduate of Madrid American High School and Chris's Beauty College in Gulfport. In 1978 she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi and taught Special Education at Fair Elementary School in Pascagoula. She also taught school at College Park Elementary School in Gautier and Popps Ferry School in Biloxi. She worked as a teacher's aid at Madrid American Kindergarten In Madrid, Spain and also at Keesler AFB Kindergarten. Miss. Wilson was previously employed at Ingall's Shipyard Office.
On March 30, 1997, Ann fell from a horse on the street in front of her home while her family watched. She was rushed to the Ocean Springs Hospital and the USA Medical Center in Mobile where she had a Craniotomy that night and again two days later. This has been followed by therapy at various other hospitals and doctors. She has been active in Support Groups of the Brain Injury Association of Mississippi and L. I. F. E. where she received an award for assistance with children with learning disabilities. In July 2003 she had a wonderful experience in New York with the Seeing Eye and Care Center. Here she received a help dog that has become her closest companion. His name is L. J., standing for the organization and individual who provided the dog.
Miss. Wilson was Baptized by her father, Dr. Robert R. Wilson and Confirmed by Rev. Robert Beiher. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ocean Springs since December 19, 1971 and the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC in December 23, 1967.
Survivors include her parents, Dr. Robert R. Wilson and Sarah Wilson of Ocean Springs; a sister, Laura Melton of Vicksburg; three brothers, Chaplain Donald R. Wilson and his wife, Becky, of Hurlbert Field, FL; David Ray Wilson and his wife, Monica, of Woolmarket and Kenneth G. Wilson and his wife, Michelle, of Ocean Springs; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, January 31, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Ocean Springs where friends may visit one hour before service time. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
