Annemarie Redman

Annemarie Redman, age 81, passed away peacefully in her home, in Gulfport, on Sunday, June 19th, 2022.

Annemarie was born on March 27th, 1941, in Germany. At the age of 19, she traveled to America under a sponsorship, ultimately making it her home. Soon after arriving in the states, Annemarie met and married her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Redman. Their journey began in Charleston, South Carolina. The family relocated to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1971, where she would spend the rest of her life.

Annemarie was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anna; brother, Joseph; and beloved son, Kenny.

Surviving family members include her husband, Kenneth Redman; daughter, Leslie Barrett (Dean); grandson, Adam Broadus (Joyce); and great grandson, Benjamin.

Annemarie, aka “Omi”, was a spirited perfectionist. Her home was her castle and her true pride and joy. It was beautifully decorated, kept immaculately, and where she shined as a wonderful cook and joyful hostess. Annemarie delighted in her garden and found peace amidst her flowers, birds and butterflies. She enjoyed the companionship of several cats over the years, and leaves behind her beloved Beau. They shared an uncommon bond.

As a professional seamstress, Annemarie was well known for her skill. She worked for many years at Shamis’ dress shop in Gulfport, Mississippi. After leaving Shamis’, she began a new journey with Gayfer’s/Dillard’s as a personal sales specialist. Annemarie dedicated herself to her beloved customers and developed countless, meaningful relationships. She rarely left the house without running into someone she knew.

We will miss our Omi~ devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
