Anthony “Doty” Fournier, Jr. ,84, of Biloxi, MS passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2024 after a battle with leukemia. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Doty was born on May 25, 1940 to Anthony Doty Fournier, Sr. and Rosalie Taranto Fournier in Biloxi, MS.
After Doty graduated from Notre Dame High School, he went on to study a few semesters of accounting at Perkinston Junior College. He was a long-time member of Nativity BVM in Biloxi.
He started his first job at the family seafood processing business of R. Fournier and Sons at the age of twelve working alongside his father. This kick started a seventy-year career. As the President of R. Fournier and Sons, Inc. seafood, oyster processing and sales were his lifelong passion. Doty was also the drummer for a local band called The Rockin Rebels. The band was somewhat of a legend in Biloxi and the coast.
He loved to garden, fish, flounder, drive through the countryside, build any number of things, make inventions, cook seafood, eat oysters, reading every war book available and telling stories about all different things. He was a great storyteller and loved to talk with anyone who would listen. Doty was a diehard Saints fan, watching every game of the season. He helped break a world record two times along with the North Biloxi Jaycees with their world record Easter egg hunts. The first record broken was with 28,260 eggs, but followed up in 1983 breaking the record with 56,520 Easter eggs. Doty won many, many times at the local fishing rodeos. He loved Cruisin the Coast and spent hours looking at the classic cars.
Doty was predeceased by his father, Anthony Doty Fournier, Sr.; mother, Rosalie Taranto Fournier; and brothers, Kenneth Fournier and Raymond Fournier.
He is survived by his loving partner, Sandra Drummond; sister, Carolyn Rose Fournier (Billy) Anderson; and aunt, Adelaide Chinn; his children, Anthony Doty (Gina Comeaux) Fournier III, Susan (John) LeGrand, Michael Fournier Sr., and Thomas (Heather Eaker) Fournier; grandchildren, Michael Fournier, Jr., Anthony Doty Fournier IV, Ashleigh Fournier, Joey (Annie) O’Brien, Thomas Aven Fournier and Madison Longstaff; great-grandchildren, Kailey Yamashiro, Walter O’Brien and Alice O’Brien; and the entire Drummond family, especially Paul (Dad) and Anne (Mom) and a multitude of loved nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
Even at the end he found a way to smile and laugh. Doty will be remembered for his stories, tremendous love of family and his fervor for life and all its opportunity. We love you Doty!
