Armstead "Doc" Brodnax

Mr. "Doc" Armstead Brodnax, age 73, of the Larue Community, died peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2010, in Latimer, in the home he grew up in. Doc was a resident of the Larue community and was formerly employed with Litton Industries in Pascagoula. He loved the outdoors and loved to fish and hunt and was a local Historian He was recognized years ago as "Outstanding Farmer of the Year", was a Horticulturist, and specialized in the grafting of trees in the local area. Doc was a member of the Ezell Masonic Lodge in Vancleave and a Master Mason. He had a keen sense of humor and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.E. and Bertha Brodnax, brother, H.E. Brodnax, Jr. and infant sister, Irma Marie Brodnax. Survivors include a son, Henry Mack Brodnax of Larue, two daughters, Tina Spicer of Larue and Julie (Lalo) Valdes of Vancleave, Nancy Buckheister of Latimer, whom he cherished as his own daughter, two sisters, Betty (Ronnie) Broussard of Latimer, Doris (Albert E.) Santa Cruz of Vancleave, a brother, Tommy (Glenda) Brodnax of Latimer, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his dearest friend, Connie (Donna) Mallette of Vancleave. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 10, 2010, from 9:30 am until 11 am, with an 11 am chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe. Burial will follow in Seymour/Deloney Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS. 39507, or to ones' favorite charity.
