Arthur Paul Landry

Mr. Arthur Paul "Shummy" Landry, 80, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Friday, April 24, 2009, in Biloxi. Mr. Landry was born August 13, 1928, in Jeanerette, LA. His family moved to Biloxi when he was an infant. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II, 1944 - 1947, and a member of VFW Post 2434 where he served as Post Commander in 1992 - 1993. He was a Catholic and a member of the Fleur-de-Lis Society. Mr. Landry was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joyce Vallo, whom he married January 16, 1949; son, Robert W. Landry; parents, Arthur and Estelle Derouen Landry; and a brother, Wilbur Landry. Survivors include his daughters, Linda A. Chilcote of Estero, FL, and Joyce M. Gaynor of Metairie, LA; sister, Marie Gospadonavich of Biloxi; brother, Clevis Landry of Houma, LA; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi where friends may visit from 12 noon until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi Naitonal Cemetery.
