Audrey M. Grady

Audrey M. Grady, age 90, of Biloxi, Mississippi, joined the communion of saints on Thursday, December 23, 2021.

Audrey was a devout and faithful servant of God and a lifelong Catholic. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and member of Our Lady of Fatima parish in Biloxi. Audrey was employed at Keesler Air Force Base as a budget analyst and retired in 1986. She enjoyed a long and happy retirement, where she was able to travel, host family gatherings, and engage in retail therapy to her heart’s delight.

Her passions included sewing, crocheting, playing bingo, doting on her honorary granddaughters, watching Gunsmoke reruns, and singing along to Doris Day’s greatest hits. Audrey also enjoyed playing Rummikub, assembling jigsaw puzzles, eating crab cakes and crab poboys, dining at McElroy’s and Mahoney’s, chatting with her honorary sister Helen and her close friend Lily, and catching up with extended family members. She was known for her signature jelly layer cake, sharp wit, and deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Audrey loved being Catholic, Irish, and a lifelong Biloxian. Her favorite prayer was the Memorare.

Her dying wish was to be in heaven with the Lord, all the angels and saints, her parents, and siblings for Christmas this year. They are all enjoying pork roast sandwiches and a big pot of her mother’s famous gumbo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Lily Rushing Grady; nine siblings, Henry Grady and his wife, Ruby, Lily Grady Gilly and her husband, Vernon, Eugene Grady Jr., Louise Grady Bergeron, Ennis Grady and his wife, Yvonne, Myrtle Grady, Frank Grady and his wife, Madeline, Richard Grady, and Rose Mary Grady Martin and her husband, Marcus.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Dolores Grady; honorary children, Chris Martin (nephew) and his wife, Tammy, and Cindy Martin Grammar (niece); honorary granddaughters (great-nieces) and their spouses, Stephanie Grammar and her husband, Corey Chamblee, Lindsey Martin, Sarah Grammar, Emily Grammar Malone and her husband, Matthew, Shelby Martin, and Olivia Grammar; and many loving nieces and nephews, their children, their grandchildren, their great-grandchildren, as well as her cherished extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until Mass time. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery.
