August Joseph Taconi Sr. August Joseph Taconi, Sr., 84, born October 31, 1920 a native of Biloxi died September 17, 2005 in Biloxi. He was a lifelong member of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church where he was very active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was retired from the Biloxi/Gulfport Veterans Administration, Chief of Security after 36 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII serving 6 years in the Army in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Biloxi Elks 606. Upon retirement he enjoyed charter fishing in the Gulf waters off Biloxi. August was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Joseph Taconi; and two brothers, Paul and Ray. Surviving family members are his wife, Althea Lamas Taconi; a sister, Margaret Kostellic; and a brother, Oswald Taconi. His children are August (Carla Beaugez) Taconi, Anthony (Marianne Towell) Taconi, Mary (Joe) Taconi-Alexander, Eugene (Kathy) Taconi and Barbara (Joey Viator) Taconi; eight grandchildren, Mandy, Katherine, Sara, Julie, Micah, Carolyn, Kristen and Aris; seven great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and many many friends who he loved dearly. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in the parish of their choice. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral at 11:00 a.m. where friends may call one hour before.
