Aurora L. Johnston

Aurora L. Johnston, our beloved matriarch and friend peacefully passed away on February 4, 2009 at her home in Long Beach, MS surrounded by family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her, but her glorious spirit and loving heart will live on forever. Aurora was born in Jacksonville, FL on July 16, 1916 and later moved with her family to Stuart, FL. Upon graduation she ventured to New York City to pursue her life long dream of being an opera singer. She loved to entertain and enjoyed putting a smile on people's face. She was a true diva with her beautiful voice as well as being an accomplished pianist. She also spent much of her life caring for and helping others. She was an extraordinary woman with pristine moral values and was very much in tune with the love of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was an angel if not a saint to all who knew her. She permanently moved to the Gulf Coast in 1994 where she made her home in Long Beach. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. Johnston; parents, Forest and Frances Ferguson; brothers, Forest and Wilbur Ferguson; and her beloved sister-in-law and best friend, Betty Ferguson. She is survived by her two nieces, Kay Frances Ferguson and Deborah Ann Ferguson of Long Beach; and many loving friends. The funeral service will be Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport where friends may visit from 12 noon until the service.
