It’s with great sadness that the family of Barbara Elizabeth Busby Palmer announced her passing on January 31, 2022 at 76 years of age. She was born in Mobile, AL and grew up in Waynesboro, MS where she graduated from Waynesboro Central High School. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, receiving a degree in Education in 1966. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Ronnie Glenn Palmer. After marrying, they relocated to Ocean Springs where Barbara was a devoted teacher at Pecan Park Elementary for 28 years. After her retirement, Barbara found great joy seeing her students in Ocean Springs as young adults with their own families. She loved hearing how their lives developed and about their personal and professional successes.
Barbara enjoyed gardening and walking on the beach with Ronnie, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Arthur G. Busby; her mother, Marion Busby; and sister, Catherine Philips. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronnie Palmer and her loving daughters, Angela Clary (Michael), Stephanie Tillotson (Jeff), and Candice Palmer Weber. Barbara had 4 wonderful grandchildren, Dylan Arthur Weber, Lela Elizabeth Weber, Ava Amore Clary, and Adyson Lily Palmer Clary. Barbara was affectingly known as “Nana” to her grandchildren.
Barbara was extremely devoted to her family and will be carried in their hearts always.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many Doctors, Nurses, Physical Therapists and various healthcare staff that provide great care and encouragement over the last 2 years.
Barbara’s wishes were to be cremated and to “not be made a fuss over”, therefore no funeral or memorial services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please donate a book to a child, local Library, daycare or school. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Barbara Elizabeth Busby Palmer.
