Barbara Heddings

Mrs. Barbara Heddings, 72, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Friday, December 7, 2007, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Heddings was born in Richmond, VA and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast since 1968. She helped establish a school for the deaf in Virginia before moving to Mississippi. Mrs. Heddings was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Pascagoula where she was a Sunday School Teacher and volunteered a tremendous amount of time to her community. She served as a girl scout leader, was past president of Ocean Springs Garden Club, past president of Ocean Springs Hospital Auxiliary and served as Chair Person of World Hunger for the Southeastern Synod of the Lutheran Church. Mrs. Heddings was a wonderful wife and loving mother. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ray Heddings of Ocean Springs; a daughter, Cheryl Herman of Mobile, AL; two sons, Raymond Heddings of Woodbridge, VA, and Thomas R. Heddings of Ocean Springs, one sister, Trixie Fitzgerald of Colorado; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Lutheran World Hunger Relief, c/o Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 2755 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
