Barbara Jean Monroe DeCelle, 76, of Gulfport died Saturday, September 10, 2011 in Gulfport. Mrs. DeCelle was born in Tuscaloosa, AL and had been a resident of Gulfport most of her life. She was a Catholic. She was a longtime employee in law enforcement with the Gulfport Police Department and Harrison County Sheriff's Office. Mrs. DeCelle was lovingly known as Nana to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. DeCelle, her parents, Craig M. Monroe Sr. and Julia Faye Essary Monroe and a brother, Craig M. Monroe, Jr.
Survivors include a daughter; Gina Strickland, two sons; Jeffery A. Smith and Michael Smith, two sisters; Faye Ledet and Debbie Lang all of Gulfport, a brother; Ken Monroe of Ocean Springs, four grandchildren and her poodle, Mackie.

The memorial service will be Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home Chapel, 15th Street, Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour before the service. The family prefers memorials to St. John Catholic Church, P.O. Box 970, Gulfport, MS 39502.
