Barbara Ann Kridle Maynard, 59, passed away January 9, 2017 in Biloxi, MS. She was born January 12, 1957, in Blytheville, AR to Robert and Jean Fountain Kridle.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She proved that people can have it all if they pursue a life serving others. Her accomplishments are too numerous to list but she touched and affected thousands of people in many positive ways.
She grew up in a military family and traveled extensively, including a time in the Philippine Islands. She graduated from Hayfield High School in Alexandria, VA and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
She married and moved to Illinois near St. Louis, MO. Her professional accomplishments included work with the Campfire Girls and Boys, the Girl Scouts, the YMCA, The Belleville Diocese of the Catholic Church, the Mind's Eye Radio Services for the Blind, The Aquinas Institute of Theology at Saint Louis University and the Sisters of the Holy Family in New Orleans, LA.
She would get her hands dirty designing baskets for a church picnic or supervise a high society event at a New Orleans hotel in the French Quarter.
She always gave the credits for her accomplishments to others involved in the projects, but they knew it was Barbara who had done the lion’s share of the work.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Fountain Kridle. Barbara was the spirit and image of Jean, who provided Barbara with high standards of elegance, grace, style, charm and selflessness. Barbara would, no doubt, be embarrassed by this account of her life and consider it immodest, but everyone who knew her would vouch for its veracity.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Riley, her son, Nathan, her daughters, Meredith and Kendra, her son-in-law, Tom, her granddaughter, Lilah, her father, Robert Kridle, and sisters Mary, Jeanne, Caroline and Linda. Her ideas and memories are cherished by family and friends scattered across the U.S.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara would appreciate donations to the Sisters of the Holy Family, 6901 Chef Menteur Highway, New Orleans, LA 70126.
