Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Switzer

Barbara “Bobbie” Switzer entered her resting place on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in Long Beach.

Bobbie was born on June 22, 1939 in Gulfport, MS. She lived in Fernwood Community most of her life before moving to Long Beach. She was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church where she attended for many years.

Bobbie was a special person.  Even with her disability, she was a blessing to us all. She was able to love and help her parents in their little grocery store on Pass Road and Debuys Road for years. Bobbie went to Fernwood School. She loved going to Texas and staying with her Aunt Kit and visiting her cousins there. She loved embroidering; watching her TV shows, General Hospital and Jaws (the big fish as she would call it); but most of all she loved her best friend, Elvis, all of his movies and music.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Bill Switzer; sister, Virginia Switzer; grandparents, Loran Allen, and George and Ellen Switzer; a great-nephew, Hayden Husley; and many precious aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her sister, Eleanor “Buttons” and Dale Martin; nieces, Melissa (Darrell) Lee, Angie (Josh) McWilliams, and Jane (Fea) Fayard; nephew, Steven Lee (Cindy) Fayard, ; great-nieces, Olivia and Maycie Fayard; great-nephews, Gage McWilliams and Blaine Husley; great-great-nephew, Waylon Husley; and many cousin and friends.

Bobbie will be greatly missed so many and will always be our special love to everyone.

A special thank you to all the staff on the 4th floor at Memorial Hospital, and the staff at St. Joseph Hospice, the Carpenter House, hospice nurses and aides.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
