Barbara Jean Tompkins, “Nana” , 71, of Lucedale, MS passed away Thursday December 16, 2021 in Gulfport, MS. surrounded by her loved ones.
Barbara was born June 2, 1950 in Jackson, MS. She was a native to Raleigh, MS and a longtime resident in Lucedale, MS. Barbara attended Moss Point High School and was a house wife and mother who devoted her time to Christianity, loving her family, and her many cats.
She is predeceased by her parents Carl Clay Bowen and mother Betty Jean Smith Bowen and her two siblings Brenda Martin and Jack Bowen.
Barbara is survived by her husband Ervin Tompkins, her three children Vinson C. Murray (Bonnie), Anthony C. Murray (Stephenie), and Travis N. Murray and her six grandchildren: Brandon Murray, Loren Lara (Alec), Kaylyn Gartrell, Nicholas Murray, Tamara Mariakis (Caleb), and Lindsey Murray. She is also survived by by her three great grandchildren Carter Mariakis, Izabella Lara, and Gabby Lara and by her remaining siblings Mike Bowen and Steve Bowen.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 10:30 until 11:00 am at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m.
We would like to give a big thank you to George County Regional Hospital ICU staff for their amazing care of Barbara during her time there.
