Barney "Buddy" Byrd

Mr. Barney "Buddy" Byrd, 77, of Biloxi, MS, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, in Gulfport. Mr. Byrd was a native and lifelong resident of Biloxi. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran, member of Biloxi Business Men's Club and a lifelong member of Biloxi Elks Lodge #606. Mr. Byrd was an entreperneur and the former owner of Bud's Mobile Homes, the Beach Arcade and the owner/operator of B. J. Helicopter Service in Los Angeles, California. He was also the owner of many other businesses. Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by three children, Barney A. Byrd, Tracee Byrd Schermund and Barry J. Byrd; his parents, Lionel and Jeanette Byrd, and a brother, Lionel Byrd, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Nora Byrd, of Biloxi; a son, Brent Byrd, and one granddaughter, Jillian Schermund. Visitation is Monday, June 23, 2008, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to the Biloxi Boys & Girls Club of the Gulf Coast, 201 Holly, Gulfport, MS 39501.
