Bernard D. Basque, Sr., 93, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Basque was born in Jackson County, MS and he was a lifelong resident of the coast. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Basque retired from Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base after 27 years of service. He was the oldest Past Master of McLeod Lodge #424, Ocean Springs, MS.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. Basque; his daughter, Dianne Webb; his granddaughter, Belinda Webb; and his great-granddaughter, Ashton Halula.
Mr. Basque’s survivors include his daughters, Bonnie (Tom) Murphy of Ocean Springs and Liz (Eric) Aldrich of the St. Martin Community; his son, Bernard D. (Penny) Basque, Jr. of Ocean Springs; his grandchildren, Royce Brune, Patrick Murphy, Bernard Basque, III, Melissa Aldrich, Charles Aldrich, Chris Aldrich and Ryan Aldrich; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. A prayer service will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10:00am. Friends may visit from 9:00am until service time. Interment will follow at Basque Cemetery.
