Bernice Hiers

Bernice Hiers, age 89, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017. Bernice was a native of Georgia and a resident of Vancleave since 1977. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul T. Hiers; two sons, Johnny Hiers and Paul Jay “Jaybird” Hiers; her daughter, Jan Hiers; and one grandson, Terry Hiers. Bernice’s survivors include three daughters, Judy (Hershel) Tompkins, Joyce Blalock, and Jeanette “Mutt” (Ronnie) Flores; two sons, Jimmy (Patsy) Hiers, daughter-in-law, Elaine Hiers, Jerry (Jackie) Hiers; and a sister, Hazel Albritton; grandchildren, Ben Hiers, Karl Hiers, Kathi Hiers, Kristi Arcularius, Grant Hiers, Gina Hayes, Bryan Tompkins, Eric Tompkins, Anna Wilson, Shannon Hiers, Chad Hiers, Karen McKenzie, Steven Searcy, Audrey Ferrier, Cody Hiers, Laura Dell, Jason Fillingim, Jennifer McDougal, and Jessica “Boogie” Arriaga; forty seven great-grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m., all at the Vancleave Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Vancleave #1 Cemetery. The Vancleave Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
