Bernice Marie Thibodeaux Toche, 84, of Biloxi, Ms. Formerly of Lafayette, La., died Wednesday, February 22, 2006 in Biloxi. Bernice was born on January 3, 1922 in Erath, La. She was fourth child of Henri Cestia Thibodeaux and Emily DeLahoussaye Thibodeaux. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cestia amd Emily Thibodeaux, brothers Lawless and Edwin Thibodeaux of Lafayette, La. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Wesley Toche, Jr., two sons Gary James Toche and daughter-in-law Judy Breaux Toche of Clear Lake, Tx., Joseph Wesley Toche, III and daughter-in-law Susan Cochran Toche of Biloxi, Ms., one daughter Kathleen Toche Roberts of Woodstock, Ga., and son-in-law Thomas E. Roberts, Jr. of Smyrna, Ga., a sister Nelies Bernard of Lafayette, La., seven grandchildren Brian and Brett Toche, Kathryn and Aimee Toche, Melissa Queen and Andrew Roberts, and Sarah and Sam Burke. Bernice was the owner and operator of Toche Curb Market and Bern's Squire Shoppe, before she retired in 1979. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, an active member teaching CCD classes, and also was a commentator at Mass. She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of 1244 council Knights of Columbus where she served as treasurer for five years. After becoming a member of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church, she was part of the Bereavement Committee. For over five years she handmade bibs for the Christening of those to be baptized into the Faith. She was also a member of the Altar Society. One of the volunteer jobs that she enjoyed was the delivering of Meals on Wheels for the City of Biloxi to the shut-ins and ill Seniors. As a member of Herbert Mullins Senior Citizens she made ceramics and would donate them to worthy causes. Bernice was member of the Oak Garden Club. She was devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2006 at Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral in Biloxi, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Burial at Southern Memorial Park. Memorials in her honor may be sent to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 870 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, Ms 39530.
