Mrs. Beryl Girot Riviere, age 94, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Friday, January 14, 2011, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Riviere was born in New Orleans, LA. on February 22, 1916, and was a lifelong resident of Ocean Springs. She worked at Keesler AFB and Camp Shelby during WWII, worked for the Ocean Springs High School Administration Office for twenty eight years and played tennis at Treasure Oaks Country Club where she was a charter member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy J. Riviere, son, Ray P. Riviere, parents, Henry Girot and Mable Judlin Girot, grandson, Mark T. Riviere, brother, Judlin H. Girot and sisters, Sally G. Staley and George E. Nicholson. Survivors include a son, Roy F. (Ricky) Riviere and wife, Suzanne, grandson, Brian H. Riviere, great-grandchildren, Mark Austin Riviere and Emily Clare Riviere, many nieces and nephews, her longtime special friend, Herminel Barnett and her walking friends, Blanche Pitalo and Audi Conant. Special thanks to her niece, Susan and Rutlege Delgado; Rose Sliman with SAADS and Linda Schneider and Terre Frederick with Home Instead, for all of their support and help. Visitation will be on Monday, January 17, 2011, from 10 am until 12 noon, with a 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial, all at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
