Bessie Mae Bennett, age 67 of Vancleave, MS passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 in New Orleans, LA.
She was born on March 4, 1956 in Vancleave, MS to Napoleon and Cornelia Moore. She attended school up until the eighth grade. She was a homemaker. Some of her specialty foods were Beef tips and Spaghetti, Dressing at Christmas, and Pineapple Coconut Pudding. She enjoyed playing dice, cooking, painting pictures, and watching wrestling.
Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Napoleon and Cornelia Moore; and siblings, Napoleon Moore, Jr. and Kay Thorp.
She is survived by her husband, Charles “Butch” Bennett III; children, Louise (Andy) Anderson and Yolanda Bennett; grandchildren, Mack Anderson, Travis Anderson, Ashley Bennett, Lucas Bennett, Shelby Anderson, and Amelia Bennett; great-grandchildren, Braelin, Declan, Cooper, and Aubree; siblings, Jenny Foster, Gaynell Bang, Jerry Moore, Leeetta Smith, Leroy Moore, Edna Reed, Rachel Sewards, and Mary Hiestand; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Mack Anderson, Travis Anderson, Lucas Bennett, Raymond Waltman, Willie Acker, Cody Waltman, and Kelin Acker.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Millien, Dr. Spencer, and the staff at Ochsner’s in New Orleans.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Vancleave, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Beulah Cemetery, Vancleave, MS.
