Barbara "Beth" Benoist-Strauss, age 56, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the University Hospital in Mobile, AL.
Beth was born on April 12, 1964, in Pascagoula, MS. She graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1982, received an Associates of Arts degree in journalism from Central Florida Community College in 1986 and completed American Airlines Flight Attendant Training in Dallas, TX in 1987. Beth was a Miss USA contestant, following her crowning as Miss Manatee, Crystal River, FL. She retired from American Airlines after traveling the world for 30 years as a Senior Flight Attendant/Purser, home based in Miami, FL. She was a Christian of the Episcopalian faith, she was beautiful and will be missed by the many who loved her.
Beth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Floyd and Peggy Hill and Otis and Hannah Benoist, uncle, Otis Benoist, Jr and brother, Floyd "Blaine" Benoist.
Survivors include her parents, Barbara and Jack Seal and Bill and Rachel Benoist, son, Robert "Spencer" Strauss, stepdaughters, Jessica Erin Strauss and Kristina Strauss-Zabran, grandchildren, Ayden, Finley and Lyla, brothers, William "Brent" (Karla) Benoist, Wilson "Shea" (Kathleen) Scarborough, Justin (Jacqueline) Benoist, stepsisters, Christine (Ken) Hopkins and Leslie Seal, aunts, Diane (Stan) Cantrell and Brenda McWaters, former spouse, Robert Strauss and many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and her fur babies.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 28, from 12:30pm until 2pm, with a 2pm chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Pastor Roger Parks of Heritage Baptist Church in Prattville, AL will be presiding. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs.
