Bettie Lee Overby

Bettie Lee Overby, age 84, entered peacefully into Heaven at her home in Gulfport, MS on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

Bettie was born on June 10, 1938 in Monticello, MS.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellis Ann Scarborough-Daniel; parents, Daniel Stewart and Ruby Stephens; siblings, Nora May Smith, Ellettsville Smith, Linda Barker, Louladeen Moran, Sarah “Sadie” Stewart, Robert Stewart, Edward Stewart, Mary Todd, Genevieve Todd, and Flehuitt Stewart.

Survivors include her husband, Pastor Melvin Wayne Overby; sister, Hazel Smith; grandchildren, Melissa A. Negron (Howard) and Jason Daniel; great-grandchildren, Destanie Daniel, Alyssa Craven, Zavier Rogers, JoshuaLee Rogers, Jeremiah Rogers, and Annabella Negron; and her 17-year-old Pekingese, Fraulien.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport. Friends may visit one-hour prior to service. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Overby family.

The family would like to thank everyone for their condolences during this time, they are greatly appreciated. Bettie will be missed and will always be loved.
