Mrs. Betty J. McNeil passed away in Houston Wednesday afternoon, October 4, 2006 at the age of 76. She will be deeply missed by those who were touched by her warmth, humor, wisdom, grace, which never failed. Her faith in God was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a beloved wife and devoted mother.
Betty was born in Matoaka, W.Va. to Virginia and Clay Ragan. She married Charles J. McNeil on July 2, 1949. They were married 38 years when God called Charles home.
She is also survived by her daughter, Robbin McNeil Spafford, her two precious granddaughters, Molly and Abby McMurtry, all of Houston, Texas, her sister Hazel Woolwine of Matoaka, W. Va., her brother David Ragan of Kegley, W.Va., her brother Garland Ragan of Princeton, W.Va., her brother Bobby Ragan of Harrisburg, Pa., her aunt Thelma Scott of Ocean Springs, MS. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles McNeil and mother and father, Virginia and Clay Ragan.
Betty’s greatest legacy is as a loving mother and an adoring grandmother. We will miss her, but we rejoice that she was a part of our lives.
The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Oaks at Westchase in Houston who provided companionate care for Betty. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Memorial services will be celebrated on Monday, October, 9, 2006 at Crest Lawn Cemetery.
