Betty Jo (B.J.) McCardle

Betty Jo (B. J.) McCardle, 71, of Biloxi, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010. Mrs. McCardle was born in Seminary, MS, beloved daughter of Hubert and Lena Howard. She was married to her true love Carl R. McCardle on July 16, 1959. Betty was a Registered Nurse for the Veterans Administration of Biloxi for 26 years, where she devoted faithful service to not only taking care of the many Veterans that came for medical care, but also to training many of the United States Air Force current and past doctors. Betty also excelled at raising beautiful plants and flowers, as well as making cakes for which she did often for others. She was an inspiration to her family, friends and doctors. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Betty was of the Methodist faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Hubert Howard; sisters, Ruby Dickinson and Vera Porciello; brothers, Ray Howard and James W. (J. W.) Howard. Betty is survived by her husband Carl of 50 years; her son, Timothy and his wife, Olivia of Hampton, VA; daughters, Christina Willoughby of Huntsville, AR, Renee' Jordan and her husband, Colin of Smithfield, KY; 12 grandchildren, Larry Walters, Alex Marchand, Nicholas Schroeder, Joshua Marchand, Justin Schroeder, Mathew Marchand, Dakota Marchand, Nicole Marchand, Dalton Jordan, Ryanne McCardle, CJ Willoughby and Kacie McCardle; 1 great-grandson, Kayden Schroeder; brother, Jack Howard of Leaksville, MS; sisters, Lena Gist of Petal, MS, Darlene Dickson of Petal, MS, Diane Cooley of Hattiesburg, MS and Carolyn Wellford of Huntsville, AL and also many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m until service time. Interment will be in Southern Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to: American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
