Betty La Jeune Swartz

Betty La Jeune Swartz died Friday, June 18, 2010, in Ocean Springs, MS. Born August 3, 1929, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John, her parents, John E. Wylie and Doris Johnson, and aunt and uncle, Ina and Floyd Engstrom. She was a loving wife and mother; proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by three children, Cheryl Portteus (Steve) of Earl Park IN, Andrea Holden (Neil) of Ocean Springs, and Mike Swartz (Meg) of Algonquin IL; seven grandchildren, Brian (Cyndi) Portteus, Katie (Kyle) Robinson, Rachael Holden, Sarah Holden and Julie Holden, Melissa Swartz and Alex Swartz; one great-grandchild Austin Robinson. The family would like to thank the Gardens Assisted Living Center and Home Instead Senior Care for the compassionate care and loving support they provided to her. Memorial Service to be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, Porter Avenue, Ocean Springs. Visitation for friends will begin one half hour before service. A private graveside service will take place at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association. Alzheimer's Association 225 N.
