Betty Lou Martin passed peacefully at the age of 89, on 21 April 2025. She was a long-time resident of Biloxi.
Betty was born Betty Lou Kronk on 8 November 1935 to Lena and Leslie Kronk in the small town of Minford, Ohio. She thrived and was spoiled as the youngest of 5. She graduated from Minford High School and worked at Williams Shoe Factory (with her future mother-in-law).
Betty married the love of her life – Charles Martin on 28 December 1956. She knew Charles was in the Air Force and signed up for wherever that would take them. Their first assignment out of Ohio was the Philippines. A big step for a young country girl. They then proceeded to live in various states throughout the US and delighted in an assignment in Berlin Germany (before the wall came down). Finally coming to Biloxi in 1971 for Charles’ final assignment. They choose to make this home – preferring potential hurricanes to annual snow and ice.
Betty and Charles loved to travel – often visiting whatever locations their son and daughter were living – and of course spoiling the grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, and her soulmate Charles. She is survived by her son, Les (Terri) Martin; daughter, Linda Fields (Martin); grandchildren, Halie Martin of Athens, Al, Drew Martin of Auburn, Al, Barton Fields of Norfolk VA, and Sarah Vickery (Fields) of Las Vegas Nevada; great granddaughter, Myka Vickery (who she declared was just adorable); and her beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to thank all the beautiful ladies of Home Instead, and the staff of One Magnolia who took wonderful care of Betty.
Betty will be buried at the Biloxi VA with Charles – back together again.
Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Betty Lou Martin.
