Betty Louise Thomas Towles

Betty Louise Thomas Towles, age 64, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully joined her Heavenly Father on April 9, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Betty was born in Biloxi, Mississippi and was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She was a graduate of D'Iberville High School and alumnus of Perkinston Junior College. Betty retired in 2005 as Administrative Secretary of MGCCC West Harrison Center after 18 years of employment with the college. Betty served the people of Lighthouse Fellowship along side her husband Bill for 33 years. Betty served not only as a pastor's wife but as a spiritual mother to countless young people who were blessed to be touched by her through the years. Her quiet and gentle spirit spoke volumes about whom it is that GOD has called us all to be: "To do justly, love mercy and to walk humbly with your GOD". (Micah 6:8) She was preceded in death by her parents, James B. Thomas and Ola Mae McQueen Thomas of D'Iberville. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Bill Towles; children, Colette Towles, Roxanne Towles, and Seth Towles, all of Gulfport; two sisters, Carolyn (Cragin) Gilbert and Donna Moore, of Biloxi; beloved granddaughter, Olivia Buckman of Gulfport; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel where friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Coalville Cemetery, Biloxi. Pallbearers for the service will be Jim Bradley, George Brashear, Pat McCaffrey, Jerry Martin, Jr., Jimmy Rodriquez, and Charles "Charlie" Kranz. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Rogers, T.J. Smith, T.C. Helms and Ralph McBroom. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the MGCCC-Betty Towles Memorial Scholarship Fund C/O Hancock Bank, P. O. Box 4019, Gulfport, MS 39502.
