Mrs. Betty M. Parlin, age 86, of Ocean Springs, MS., went to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, with family members present.
Betty had been a resident of Ocean Springs since 1945. She was born to William Henry and Margaret Powell of Ebbw Vale, Gwent, South Wales, UK, on September 7, 1923. She came to the United States as a war bride, was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Ocean Springs and served with the Women of the Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Mendenhall Parlin, her parents, and two brothers, Bill and Harry Powell of Ebbw Vale, Gwent, South Wales, UK.
Survivors include her sons, Charles William "Billy" Parlin (Loretta) and Clay Malcolm Parlin (Rhonda), all of Ocean Springs, seven grandchildren, Josh (Gena) Parlin, Judd Parlin, Jaclyn (Rodney) Johnson, Jennifer (Ronny) Landry, Deanna (Andrew) Battley, Michael Tillis and Tiffany Tillis, three great-grandchildren, Aubree and Clayton Johnson and Jenna Baker, a sister, Margaret Smith a brother, Malcolm Powell of Ebbw Vale, Gwent, South Wales, UK. and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Parlin.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 19, 2010, from 12 Noon until 1 PM, with a 1 PM church service, all at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
